Communing with the elders

I went down a rabbit hole to find out who the narrator was of Cannonball Adderley "Soul Zodiac" album. What I found out shocked me to say the least and I was able to receive a celestial message to pay homage to 2 April born ancestors. For this urban weather report we’ll be doing an analysis of this season’s Mars in Aquarius transit
(November 7-Dec 19th)

Paying Celestial Homage to DJ Rick Holmes
(died Sept 2, 2015)

I first heard Soul Zodiac in 2012 and always wondered who the astrologer was that was narrating it. As a fellow astrologer, I felt his talent was undeniable and even increased my knowledge upon listening to the whole celestial library. With jazz as a back drop he shares descriptions of all of the signs in cool spoken word-the visuals are powerful and will leave you with deeper insight of yourself and others.

For jazz great Cannonball Adderley the zodiac was so fascinating that he devoted a whole 1972 album to it. With narration by DJ Rick Holmes -noted on the album for his “sophisticated rhetoric”

SOUL ZODIAC is seductive jazz and a reflection on an era when ‘The Age of Aquarius’ captured everyone’s imagination. Take a Listen:

Libations
Offering ancestral libations, by calling out our ancestor’s name, while pouring liquid to honor their spirit, can help bring forward the energy, positive power and divine love needed to change our world. Spirit, everywhere and through everything, is calling out to all of humanity, to be manifested in all of what we do today, as the center of our existence. Rick Holmes (April 21st) 1936= 4+2+1+1+9+3+6=#8 Life path

8 Numerology =Balance and power

The number 8 is perhaps the most misunderstood of all single-digit numbers, as novices and professionals alike always seem to hammer on the "money and power" image of the 8. It is true that the number 8, more than any other number, puts the emphasis in the areas of career, business, finances and authority. the shape of the number reflects its most important attribute, and in the case of the number 8, that is, first and foremost, balance. The 8 is the great Karmic equalizer, a force that just as easily creates as it destroys. you will reap what you've sown.

More facts about Gil Scott Heron: Gil Scott-Heron was born in Chicago, Illinois.  His mother, Bobbie Scott-Heron, was an opera singer who performed with the New York Oratorio Society. Scott-Heron's father, Gil Heron, nicknamed "The Black Arrow", was a Jamaican football player in the 1950s who became the first black man to play for Celtic Football Club in Glasgow. Gil's parents separated in his early childhood and he was sent to live with his maternal grandmother, Lillie Scott, in Jackson, Tennessee. When Scott-Heron was 12 years old, his grandmother died and he returned to live with his mother in the Bronx, New York City. As one of five black students at the prestigious school, Scott-Heron was faced with alienation and a significant socioeconomic gap.

Scott-Heron began his recording career in 1970 with the LP Small Talk at 125th and Lenox The album's 14 tracks dealt with themes such as the superficiality of television and mass consumerism, the hypocrisy of some would-be black revolutionaries, and white middle-class ignorance of the difficulties faced by inner-city residents. In the liner notes, Scott-Heron acknowledged as influences Richie Havens, John Coltrane, Otis Redding, Jose Feliciano, Billie Holiday, Langston Hughes, Malcolm X, Huey Newton, Nina Simone, and long-time collaborator Brian Jackson.

Mars in Aquarius (from November 9 to December 19) is a huge social experiment. Perhaps the most socially aware sign, Aquarius is the archetype that best represents the collective consciousness, with its consequences, ethical struggles, systemic issues. The transit of Mars through this humanitarian segment of the Zodiac is bound to mark a definite shift and we will all come away with the realization that no man is an island, and that every gesture we make reverberates on our surroundings, influencing conditions that surpass our individual worlds. Our actions have consequences; they’re informed, hindered or influenced by the environment we’re immersed in.

My Point: People's actions under Mars in Aquarius will be concerned with the bigger picture.  Some will look at it in order to see where they fit, while others will feel compelled to define themselves in opposition to what they see.

The mutual reception between Mars and Uranus (currently transiting Aries, which is a Mars-ruled sign) will likely bring highly polarized, extreme reactions to our decision making that affects others.  One thing for sure, since Mars lives in the present moment, and Uranus/Aquarius are concerned with the future, a fair share of our actions will be geared towards leaving heavy burdens in the past, and experimenting with new options at our disposal. Most of us will need plenty of room to move around while going through this process.  Allowing space is key to avoid clashes and abrupt confrontations at this time, as well as respecting others’ boundaries, and honoring their need for a critical, detached evaluation. #NoPeerPressure

Our hopes, dreams and wishes are also more likely to become huge driving forces at this time. Aquarius is famous for its utopian, revolutionary mindset. Actions and reactions will be triggered by our expectations and desire for positive change. The urge to step on uncharted paths towards a better tomorrow will be strong and undeniable.   You will develop an increased need to walk with those who are going in the same direction, and separate from old friends who are headed to a different place.
